Exposition de Patrick Swirc au Théâtre de la Photographie sur la rue Dubouchage à Nice, du 14 février au 24 mai 2015:

Quand vous arrivez devant le Théatre de la Photographie, Clint Eastwood vous accueille. Ses traits marqués pourraient être le symbole de son expérience, tel un sage. Je dois avouer que je ne l'ai pas reconnu du premier coup, je croyais même que c'était l'artiste, Patrick Swirc. Bref, cette photo attire notre curiosité. Et on se demande à quoi s'attendre. Au départ, sont présentés des photos en Corée du Nord, pendant la guerre. Ce qui m'a plu dans cette série, c'est que l'on capte les expressions naturelles des soldats. C'est un court instant où les soldats ne combattent pas. Un peu plus loin se trouve une petite salle avec des dessins. Mais cette salle ne vaut pas trop le détour selon moi car ce n'est pas ce que l'artiste gère le mieux à mon avis. En avancant quelques mètres, on découvre ce qui a fait la "gloire" de l'artiste. Se présente à nous multiples portraits d'acteurs, chanteurs ou autre star populaire tel Léa Saydoux, Clint Eastwood, Catherine Deneuve, Robbie Williams etc... Dans ces clichés je trouve que l'artiste arrive à se démarquer. Je ne sais pas si les photos ont été retouchés, mais je trouve qu'il en ressort quelque chose de plûtot naturel. Aussi, le noir et blanc apporte un mystère. De plus, ça appelle notre imagination.

When you arrive in front of "Théâtre de la Photographie", Clint Eastwood welcomes you. The lines on his face could symbolize his experience, as a wise man. I must say I didn't recognize him at first, I even thought it was the artist, Patrick Swirc. Anyways, this picture attracts our curiosity. Plus, we don't know what to expect. At the beginning are presented pictures taken in North Korea during war. What I liked in this sery, is that we get the natural expressions of the soldiers. It's a short moment, when the soldiers don't fight. Near by, you can find a small room with drawings made by the artist, but it's not very interesting. If you walk a few meters, you will discover what made "the glory" of the artist, portraits of famous singers, actors and other popular stars like Léa Saydoux, Clint Eastwood, Catherine Deneuve, Robbie Williams etc... In those clichés, for me, the artist managed to stand out from other photographers. I don't know if those pictures were embelished on Photoshop, but, as far as I am concerned, it shows something natural. Plus, the black and white gives mistery to the portraits. Moreover it calls our imagination. 

On comprend assez rapidement que Patrick Swirc est très libre dans son métier, grâce à la maîtrise des différentes techniques en fonction du type de photos qu'il prend. Un autre type de photo que l'on retrouve dans l'exposition, ce sont les photos de mode. Ce ne sont pas des photos retouchés 10 000 fois avec photoshop mais des photos de mode en extérieur. On retrouve la mode sous un trait beaucoup plus attrayant que ces photos banales pour les publicités de sacs, bijoux et autre de grandes marques. 

We understand quite rapidly that Patrick Swirc is free in his job, as he has control over different technics of photography. An other type of photography the artist uses, are fashion pictures. Those pictures are not retouched by the artist, not like the advertisings of bags, jewelry and other stuff for big trade marks.

Pour terminer en beauté l'exposition, l'artiste nous ouvre les portes du voyage et de l'insouciance de la jeunesse. En effet, l'artiste a beaucoup voyagé étant jeune, notamment avec sa fiancée de ses 20 ans. Il l'a rencontré lors d'un voyage en Grèce. Quand il voyagait avec elle, il prenait l'habitude de tenir un carnet de bord où il y insérait ses photos et ses écrits. Plus tard, alors qu'ils n'étaient plus ensemble, Swirc a tout de même continué de tenir un carnet de bord.  

To finish the exhibition, the artist brings out to light, travelling and the recklessness of the youth. In actual facts, the artist travelled a lot as a young man, especially with his girlfriend when he was 20. He met her during a trip in Greece. When he travelled with her, he used to hold a journal, in which he would insert his pictures and writings. Later on, though they were no longer together, Swirc continued to hold a journal.
